If it's a regular key, then push it in as you turn it?

That key is only for unlocking the door if the battery goes flat I think.

I can use it to start the car too , I'm meant to connect it to my fob, basically I can make a key when battery dies but didn't and pushed the key straight in and now it's stuck

The key should have gone into the ignition turn lever (removed with two claps on either side of it) and it then is returned into the steering column/ignition. When you remove it (two clasps again) the key should come out. I assume you somehow didn't use the lever or used the lever but the key became detached and left behind?

Can you see/access the key where it is now? Any possibility that a long noise pliars might work for you? Careful as you go is best policy here. You don't want to break the key itself in position.
