Renault trafic shuddering

    Hi guys I have a 08 Renault trafic. It's a 2litre 115dci. Engine code M9R 780

I though last week that a weight fell off one of the wheel as the van was shaking. I got the wheel balanced last Saturday and the shuddering is still there.

I left the van to my mechanic and he agrees with me that the shuddering is in the van between 70 - 90 kmh.

He has checked all bearing, bushing, engine mounts, drive shafts and can't find a single fault with any of them.

The only thing he can come with is maybe the DMF.

Could this be causing the shuddering in the van at those speeds? It feels like the van is shaking when it happens. When you go above 90kmh it seems to level
    Out a lot.

Put the van in neutral at 90kmph. If the shuddering continues, it's not engine/gearbox

Cheers I'll try that Colm. If it continues in neutral what would be the next thing to look for?

Ok I jus bought van for a spin and drove it to 90kph and put it into neutral and the shuddering defiantly levelled out dramatically. It seemed to disappear in fact

Most likely a tyre gone out of shape

How would I know if it's out of shape? Go to a tyre centre?

Replace the tyre you think is out of shape with the spare, had a similar problem with a tyre recently, it showed no fault on the balancing machine but could not be put on the van

I have no idea if any of the tyres are out of shape

Solid flywheel in them so you can rule that out

Warped brake disc I had exactly the same thing recently. Front disc was slightly warped, but it was enough to cause a vibration.

If the shuddering stops in neutral between 90 and 70kmph then you can rule out brakes/suspension/wheels/tyres

Does the shuddering happen in both 4th and 5th gear?

Maybe its not relevant or your mechanic has checked it out already but sounds like a familiar issue i had with my last car. Vibrating at 80-100kph turned out it was just CV joints that needed replacing.

Inner drive? Had exact symptoms on an 07 one in work, after much tricking it turned out to be a failing inner drive.
