Westmeath traveller shooting 1942

The programme on travellers on RTE last night referred to the shooting of a traveller, Martin Ward in 1942, in the Glasson area, I think. Does anybody know anything about this?

Six months! That sounds like a District Court matter. Was there no charge of murder or manslaughter?
