Hey I'm thinking of treating myself to a new set of irons. Have an old set of taylormade rac but thinking of getting the new t/m m2. I play of 13 -14 handicap. Has anyone played with these clubs. And also does anybody know where is the best place to get them custom fitted in or around galway area.
    Thanks

the best place to go for all things golf in galway is golfstyle, im not sure how good he is custom fitting though. if he is fitting you he would probably give you a mini lesson also as he is a pro and not just a fitter. he has trackman but doesnt have a screen there so you cant see the results for yourself.

Im not overall convinced about golfstyle to be fair. They have a great amount of clubs but not 100% sure about club fitting. I'm more intrested if anyone has used the m2 or the m2 tour irons im torn between the two

I know they're an older club, but the M2s look not unlike the SpeedBlade irons which I have. TaylorMade have dropped the vertical slots in the face that they introduced with the RSi and PSi irons and that's a good thing imo as there were problems with those.

I absolutely love the SpeedBlades. They have a great feel and excellent ball flight. I scoured the internet after I bought my set and have managed to add a gap wedge and lob wedge, so I now have a set from 4 iron up to lob wedge. I won't be changing them anytime soon.

Best advice I can give you is beat down doors until you can get to try them properly. If you know anyone who has the M2s or indeed SpeedBlades, try those as I imagine they'll feel very similar. The RocketBladez (horrible name) that came before them are not in the same league at all. Anyone who's tried my irons have been very impressed. Envious even ;)

No to be honest. I've chopped and changed clubs the last few years trying to get something that (a) I hit well and (b) was easy on the eye and they are both thankfully.
Have used Cobras and then TM Burners before getting the RSi's (Avoid if possible) and then the M2's.

Your more than welcome to come have a look at them and hit a few shots if you want, am only 45 mins from Galway. TM regularly do demo / fitting days at the range here so another opportunity to try them

    Hey,

I have the M2’s since September 2016, I had Rocketbladez before them, the only reason I changed was the RBz had graphite shafts & I was getting alot of whip action leading to pulled shots

I liked the RBz so much I was going to get them reshafted... called into Golfstyle, reshafting was too expensive, he handed me a RSi, way too heavy, then the M2, swung a P wedge & bought them, he did give a good trade-in on the RBz

The M2’s do have a chunkier head, with a fatter sole than the Rocketbladez, but the RBz are blades so will be thinner by design,
I was conscious of the fatter head for the first few rounds but then got used to them, I won a comp 4 weeks later...

    M2's are a good club

In general tour versions on any irons will be less forgiving and lower flight. They will be designed to allow you shape the ball. Which basically means your slices and hooks will be worse if you miss-hit.

They have different lofts and offsets too. The M2 irons are:

    And the M2 Tour:

You'll hit it 20 yards more than the equivalent iron from another set then!!!! :)

It's a 9 iron with a PW stamp on it, great marketing to appease the gullible.

    3.5* stronger than my wedge.

That is madness lol. Who in God's name would want them.

Agreed. A pal of mine recently bought these and described them as "canons"

I think people should stop buying irons where the PW is less than 45 degrees. Its becoming a farce.

Meh. Lofts have been all over the place throughout the history of golf clubs. There's no actual 'correct' loft for any club really.

Agreed - so long as you're not paying more per club then no real issue, still have to know your yardages

So I finally got around to it and got fitted for the Taylormade M1 irons today. I went into golf stlye and spent about an hour on the track man. Absolutely love these clubs after testing the M2s they have a better feel and look. I also while i was at it I treated myself to the M2 driver and 3 wood. So happy days cant wait to get out with them now. Unfortunately wont have the irons till after paddys week. But have the driver and 3 wood now

I'd say the old legs buckled a little when you were presented with the bill for the lot. :D

Think it's a bit irrelevant what loft they are as long as the flight is what you would expect.

mad stuff. My Rac LT 9 iron is 44 degrees and these are 38 degrees.

are all the club manufacturers at this?

7 iron loft is 30.5 which is a bit strong but the hight you get is the exact same as my 7 iron at the moment (Taylormade rac os) so not loosing any height but gaining about 20 meters.

The m2 are 38° the M1 irons i went with are 40° so a bit different. Alot of manufacturers are doing it.
