    Hello Gents,

I cant find the information online.

I have registered and paid the VRT in my imported Van.

Does anybody know when I will receive my Logbook? I have an agreement with a guy who is buying the van after I registered it.
He said he will look after the DOE and TAX

    Thanks in advance

    Paul

If it's the same as a passenger vehicle then it will be issued to the registered owner after it is first taxed.

I think this Irish system is very frustrating.

I have paid for my vehicle to be registered.

I now HAVE to get insurance on this vehicle to tax it in order to get my log book so I can sign it over to a new owner.

I can not afford insurance or tax on this vehicle.

I registered it and I want to sell it too a guy who has agreed to buy it. He said he would look after tax and DOE when I get the logbook. But the log book wont be issued until I tax it. I am very upset over this and cant understand why I am being held too ransom?? The UK does not require insurance or tax in order to receive Log books. Can anybody advise me?

4 months tax is €94, have you insurance from any other vehicle you can transfer over?

Out of interest why did you buy the van, pay the VRT to then just sell it on?

    Hi thanks for reply

I was living in Scotland and needed to transport my belongings home. I thought that I could use it for my job after transporting but I no longer require the use of the van. I am gutted because its a old van very nicely kept with low mileage.

I have a company issued van (company insurance) so I have no insurance to transfer.

I just want to log book so the new owner can insure and tax the van.

You don't need insurance to tax the vehicle online. You should be able to tax it online using the vehicle's last 6 digits of it's VIN as the PIN on the motor tax website. When it asks you to enter your insurance policy number you could put one from 10 years ago and it will accept it. The motor tax site have no way to validate it as they don't have access to an insurance database.

And the system while far from perfect assumes that if you have just registered a vehicle here the owner will tax it straight away rather than flog it on. This is why the logbook is not issued until the vehicle is taxed here for the first time.

Don't think you can first tax a van online

    Dont bother taxing it.
Just use the change of ownership form RF 200.
It says on the form pre 93 but they will accept it .
Then when the new owner gets the taxbook when he taxes it.
I had to do the same when i bought a quad a few years ago

worth noting the van will have to be tested before it can be taxed. I think you need to come to new arrangement with your buyer
