Any where to get a decent look at any aircraft movement at Baldonnel?

Any 'busy' days or is it pretty closed up to general knowledge

College road by the roundabout linking to Jordanstown road. Gate is open to a field at the roundabout. You will be below the fence height so will only see stuff clearly when it has lifted off. There is also a spot near the bridge over the N7 on the R120 but it is very distant.

Baldonnels boundary is quite overgrown and I'm sure they are happy to have it that way.

Movements are hit and miss. You might get some then twiddle your thumbs for hours.

Baldonnel is very very quiet - PC9/C172 movements are pretty much workdays 9 to 5.. and really limited to just few a day - and on good weather only. Helis are unpredictable - again I would say only few movements a day, there seem to be days when they don't move at all, although garda chopper seems to be heading out on most nights.. casas are hit and miss as well - there used to be a regular departure almost every morning around 9, but that's gone.. don't know what that was all about.

Anyway I wouldn't waste my time with it.. There are good chances you head out, spend some 5 hours at the fence and don't see a single movement at all

the viewing point GVHOT is talking about is just opposite of avoca in a park - there's a hill from which you can see the runways, but as GVHOT said, it's very distant, so binoculars or a big photo lens is essential

Thanks for the replies. Looks like I'll stick with Dublin or Weston for now.

Was flying myself recently out of Weston and managed to see CASA lift off as I was on long finals for 25. Seen the PC9 a good bit last summer but they seem to be quieter this summer

it's as if they're reading this forum and decided to show me.. today sounded busy, C172s out in a circuit from early morning, didn't pay much attention after that, took a half day off and went flying myself
