Just go to ROS.IE then click on taxes and duties and then vehicle registration tax

It's very specific. The year of car Is one permutation.

Basically the most important is the co2 emissions.

Next is the problem. What they value the open market selling price of your car at.

Basically is a lottery and a gamble.

Also check what rate the motor tax is, it can vary from €120 a year to €2350 depending on the emissions or if it's pre 2008 the engine size.

like say this type off car https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/kia-ceed-59-plate-2010-model-in-grey-132k-service/13507065 this is cheap for some reason but that would be the car id buy 2009 or over for low tax

You have to pay VRT (registration tax) on top of that price.

There is an entire thread on importing a car from the UK in this sticky. It's a few years old but most of the information is still valid.

In general it's a very bad idea to buy a UK reg car from anyone living within ROI, if things go wrong it's one big mess. The car could be stolen, will generally not be in the name of the seller, may not have the V5 form present, could be clocked, lots of potential problems.

If the car is 4 years old putting the UK reg in to this MOT website will give the results of previous MOT tests and the mileage, that car you posted looked to be genuine.

Edit..that seller has 4 other cars for sale, all UK reg numbers, the phone number he has listed is a UK number yet he has his location as Dublin. My bet is he will look for payment via paypal or Western Union and will scam you. £2650 is way below book price of a 2010 Kia Ceed.

That KIA is going to cost at least 1300 in VRT.
The UK tax just ran out last week, 21/09/16.
The MOT expires 29/01/17 & there were no advisories at last MOT.
Mileage was 128, 283 (miles) at last MOT on 29/01/16.
It's very cheap, even for this mileage in Ireland.
Plenty of the same model, year & mileage in the UK asking similar money.
Price isn't bad if the car is straight & full service history, considering the costs of going to the UK & getting the ferry back.
With the exchange rate in your favour & around 1300-1500 VRT on top. You're looking at a decent car for 4300-4500

Cheapest Irish one with similar high miles on donedeal is 5750!

Not a bad deal if you don't mind a high miler. Would get a good mechanic to give it a going over first though.

From the add, that seller appears to be a private seller not a trader. The seller is most likely not authorised to sell UK registered vehicles in Ireland. Avoid.
