D-Link DCS-932L IP Camera

The setup guide video for the D-Link DCS-932L IP Camera looks very straight forward but I have a question some of you might be able to answer. Is there no need for a static/public IP or port forwarding for devices like this to work consistently? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBO3Ps6Ao7w

This camera supports uPNP port forwarding and DDNS, so if you can utilise these there is no need for static IP's and manual port forwarding.
