Getting extra €20 onto my dole for community work?

    Hello,

    I would like to partake in community work, I remember reading about it but can't find it now.

    It is like going on a cleaning community in the town and working all week doing community work such as cleaning the town in a group.

    I would get an extra 20 euro on top of my dole.

    What is this please?

    I think that's the CE (Community Employment) Scheme you're thinking of. It's a scheme where you are taken off the live register and employed by a local CE organisation for 19.5 hours per week. It's usually local arts organisations, sheltered housing schemes, town parks etc. The jobs are generally entry level - cleaning, reception work, kitchen work, caretaking etc. Payment wise, I'm not totally sure but I think you are paid the equivalent of your SW payment plus twenty Euro - but you're employed at an hourly rate, and your wages would be paid by the CE organisation, not from SW. You need to be on the live register for a certain amount of years to qualify. Another scheme is Tus - it's largely similar from what I can see, but it's a different process to CE.
