Any suggestions for routes for midweek winter evening spins. Even to get a 20 to 30 km spin would do fine. Based in Kilnamanagh ,thinking of roads such as Tallaght bypass, up by tallaght stadium, firehouse road, or Belgard road over to nangor road or both. Preferably roads with decent lighting, had shoulder/ cycle lanes.
    Thanks

You could go out the Tallaght Bypass and turn right onto the R136 (Outer Ring Road) and head for Lucan. You've a few options home - through Clondalkin, Ballyfermot or the city.

There's a road at Adamstown which has next to no traffic on it and has bus lane in both directions and is fully lit. A lot of local clubs use it for evening training during the week. One lap of Adamstown is about 6km

Besides the outer ring road, you could head towards the Old Mill, then towards the Spawell, but go past that junction and take a right, which would take you up the road that would take you to Marley park, Dundrum, and loop back on that.

There are pretty good street lights all round and it would be about 25km for you, 'ish.

I'm currently scoping out old winter routes. Better to do them in daylight first to memorise dangerous manhole covers/ dodgy cracks in the road etc

Something like the following (Pitch dark btw and no need for a "headlight")

Ballinascorney is fine at night with a decent set of lights.it's actually very peacefull ,not alot of cars.I'm based in tallaght and cycle that way regularly in winter evenings.just make sure to bring a back up light or batteries just in case
