Recycle tyres

Is there anywhere that will take old tyres or will I have to pay to get rid of them.

Long story, previous car, bought 4 corners but 2 of them were ok so decided to keep them 'just in case', now I'm stuck with them.

Getting a skip soon to clear out some general and garden rubbish but they say you can't put tyres in it...???

    Any ideas?

Put them on of those Facebook buy and sell pages, 2 tyres, free if you collect. If there's more than 2mm thread, they'll be gone in no time.

Seriously though, is there anywhere you can bring them?

There's a company called crumb rubber in Louth that recycles tyres, that's where the garages send them. Maybe a tyre place would take them but they'd charge you a recycle charge. I think crumb rubber actually pay the garages a small amount per tyre.

Bring them back to wherever you bought the new ones.

If thats not possible any tyre center would probably take them free of charge.

Or just put them down the bottom of the skip :p

Ask a few local tyre centres what they charge to recycle them for you.

Can't see any tyre place taking them for free as they pay to have them disposed.
Best bet is too pass them onto some young lads collecting for the bonfire :D

Usual price for tyre disposal is 2/3euro per tyre.

I'd suggest growing spuds in them.

I thanked jimbis post above but disagree with the bonna suggestion. Unless you drive a "lean green clean diesel" to offset the pollution of burning tyres of course.

    Try your local GAA club.

Juvenile teams use them for striking against etc.
