Display of N Plates for passing sub- category:

I passed my test in 2011 in category B, well before the rule came in for the display of N-Plates.

If I were to decide to do BE (car plus trailer / caravan / horsebox) I know that there would be NO theory test, as the category is already covered by B (small van / car), there is only one theory test which covers all of B.

I would simply have to directly apply for the learner permit and do the test.

Here's the question though: Would I have to wait 6 months after receiving my learner permit to apply for my test? Would I have to do the 12 mandatory lessons with the horse box and car? Would I have to display N-Plates driving the car with the trailer after having passed my BE test? ---- If the answer to any of these is yes, then it seems bizarre.

"The novice period applies only once ie someone who holds a driving licence for a category of vehicle and who after a period of two years becomes entitled to drive another category, does not become a novice in respect of the new category."

    That would suggest not
