    Hi,

I'm looking at a UK import at the moment, after running a check, it has been flagged as a Cat D write off.
Looking at the dates, the car was less than 12 months old when written off, it's less than 2 years old now.

My mechanic and a crash repairer will take a look at it for me, but is it likely that I will run into problems insuring it?

    Currently with FBD.

I like the car, but should I run?

    TIA,

It'd want to be well repaired and very cheap.

    Absolutely.

Personally speaking it would want to be way below market value for me to consider it, even at that I'd probably decline.

The issue you may have OP is that insurers may only offer you third party only cover as it was a previous write off.

There are a million other cars out there why bother. Id rather buy a high miler than a fairly new cat D . To be economically written off at 1 year old it must have been proper totalled.

Thanks everyone for your input, you have all really confirmed what I suspected.

    Back to the search!
