Hi guys i have been informed that im starting work soon in security and i was told the company have been contracted for a months work . In it i was told i could be working up to 48hrs a week over a 4 day period . After this month is up i could be unemployed for up to 3 weeks til the company has a new contract for me . My question is what way would i go about signing on the dole for them 2 or 3 weeks that im off ? and also if i work 3 days a week each been 12hr shifts can i qualify for part time dole for the other 2 days ?

3x12 hour shift is considered full time so you wont qualify for casual jobseekers. When you are on temporary lay off get a letter from your employer and go into the sw office and make a repeat claim and then sign off again when you get taken back on.

You can have your claim suspended for temporary work for up to 12 weeks. The claim is still open but suspended. When the month is up you can provide a letter showing start and finish date and the suspension can be lifted and they block the work period and you should have your payment back 3 days later.

    Hi
Sorry a bit off topic but i am in a similar situation. I was on the dole, got temporary work with a recruitment agency for 6 weeks full time now I am waiting for another assignment but nothing at the moment. Would I be able to get paid for the weeks I am not working? Do I just need to get a letter from recruitment agency as stated above? I never told SW that i got this job just stopped collecting my dole because I thought it would lead to more wok and I wouldnt have to sign on again. Any info would be great. Thanks.

The claim is probably closed now, when 2 payments expire the claim suspends and then closes. I suggest getting a letter from the agency stating the date you started and that there is no work available now and apply for a new claim.
