Herself got a car around august bank holiday from a fella selling cars, it started to leak

Went back to him, he cleaned engine and tightened the bolts, looked nice and clean and didn’t leak

But the leak is back, herself rang and he wants her to leave car with him for a day and is starting to mumble about warranty and what is and isn’t covered

Is a gasket a labour to fix this leak something that should be under warranty?

If it's a standard second hand engine and gearbox warranty, I would expect it to be covered.

Thats what I thought, he worked on it before no issues but now seems to be inclined to want to fix it

Shes to leave the car for a day with him

Rocker cover gasket is a minor item. How old is the car and how many miles has it done?

Dealers try and dodge engine warranty items all the time, notably anything that's an ancillary which is fair enough in a lot of cases, but you can't get more "engine" than the valve cover gasket. Likely a €10 part and 30-45 mins labour to him.

That's what I've found,10 to 20 part and then his brother the mechanics.

So whatever wage he gets, be about 50 all in.

If that's the 8 valve GM engine it's probably even easier to do than Voodoo makes it out to be.

If it's coming out of the next joint down at the top of the head it involves removing the head bolts and timing belt to fit.

Either way it should 100% be covered.

It seems to come from the front of the head and gathers just to the right in a silver thing with like a u shape
