upload speed

hi which is a faster upload speed. i am lost.

22mb or 7mbps.

22 MB per second apposed to 7 MB per second = 3 times faster

are mb & mbps the same ?
digiweb satellite broadband give their upload speed as 7mbps.
irish satellite broadband give their upload speed as 22mb.

mbps is megabits per second. mb is megabits, and the per second is implied, so you can read them as the same in this context.

Note: MB with capital letters generally means megabyte, which is (very roughly), megabits divided by eight (eight bits in a byte).

thanks dero so which is faster 22mb or 7mbps ? would there be a great difference between them.
digiweb is offering a download speed of 7mbps & a monthly allowence of 15gb.

irish satellite broadband is offering a download speed of 22mb & a monthly allowence of 10mb.

both cost 39.95 per month.
i just wonder which to go for.

Im onto my second satellite broadband company, Ripplecom.net, Its the fastest I can get in my area, Have a look at there website.
Also , My connection with Digiweb got really slow from 5 to 7 pm ,and the weekends when there were lots using it. At last we can stream movies, Netflix etc.

24Mb/s = 3MB/s ........ the difference is the 'B'

Mb/s = Mega bits per second

MB/s = Mega Bytes per second

8bits = 1Byte

I think they made a mistake or just lazy in not putting the "s" after 22mb therefore it should read 22mb/s. All data transfer speeds are measured "per second" so they are assuming you know that.

Therfore 22mb/s is 3 times faster than 7mb/s .

Just check that its not a capital "B" as in MB just in the slight chance they are in Bytes, but BB suppliers will never quote their speeds in Bytes as it will appear 8 times slower than the competition even though its not (8 bits=1 Byte)

I think they're just clueless.

22Mb with a 10GB cap is useless. If you have phone coverage at the house stick with a mobile plan.
