Leaving Cert - Mature Student

Hi Folks, I'm 25 and am thinking of sitting Biology and Chemistry in the Leaving Cert 2017. I'm looking to go back to college to study something along the lines of physiotherapy in Uni however I wasn't wise enough to do any science subjects in my L.C. the first time around! :/

I just want to get peoples' thoughts on sitting these two subjects with 9 months to prepare for them? Is it possible to get a good grade at higher level in them in this period of time? Also, is there any obligation to prepare a experiment notebook for the mandatory experiments in these subjects? I've read that the mandatory experiments for Biology are really just to prepare you for exam questions and that there is no obligation from the Department to hand up a experiment book at the pre-exam stage??!

    Thanks! :)

If you haven't done Science subjects before, it's quite a big ask to do them alone in nine months. Could you attend night classes? There are very good classes available in Plunket College in Dublin. They may have started for the year, but no harm contact them anyway.

Thanks for the suggestion spurious, I may see if I can access any of the night classes available. I have no commitments at the moment so I will have a fair amount of free time to study so this classes combined with a lot of study might just work!

Hey just wondering why do you plan to do these subjects? i think its a great idea i would like to do biology just to get a grip of a science subject as i did not do a science subject in the leaving cert and i also plan to do physiotherapy in third level.
What gets a mature person into physiotherapy is a test called a msap test. you do module 1 and 3. i have been told on numerous occasions that this above everything matters. I think 2 to 4 places are held for mature students in ul and the 4 highest scores get in. So if you plan to go to third level in Ireland, i would look up about the msap test and focus your attention on that because its bloody hard..
    Hope this helps
