Hi all....I am towing a boat from Terryglass to Sligo and would like advice to use the N17 or the N61.

For both I will be on the M6 anyway from Portumna. The N61 is via Athlone and the N17 is up by Galway airport.

The boat is a little bit wide so need to have the better road.

    with thanks

It has been moved to Motoring & transport>motors as it is a more appropriate place.

N17.....much better road & only a few small places where it's particually narrow. A lot of the road works have now been completed & it's a straighter road.

N61 Roscommon Town-Tulsk-Boyle has really narrow parts & it's twisty.

Many thanks TB...the guy for the delivery told me to take the N61 and then N62.....not the best on Google maps with the little man!

So.....deffo the N17 (route below) is the best way to go?

    I'll go Portumna....M6...N18 (Galway Airport) to....N17 ... N4....Sligo.

If it was me, I'd go the N17.

N17 better road by far. Also, N61 currently closed between Tulsk and Boyle with a cross country diversion.
