Owner v Main Driver - best thing to do ?

My Husband and I have 2 cars. One in each name. Comprehensive Cover on both with each other named as Named Drivers. At the moment I am driving the one in my Husband's name more frequently and vice versa.

Should I be listed as the Main Driver on my Husband's car and vice versa ? Should we change over the ownership of the cars ?

The car in my name Insurance is up for renewal so wondering what is the best thing to do. Insurance Broker has completely confused me and suggested that I may not be covered if I have an Accident while driving my Husband's car if I drive it more frequently than my own at any given time.

    Any thoughts / advice appreciated.

Your both married and have an insurable interest in each vehicle.

Regardless of which way around it is the quotes should be the same (should! )

You should be able to keep both policies as is. If they are unsure about it, I'd ask them to escalate it to the underwriter who will just make note of it

If u want you could do perm sub to each other cars, explain reason to your insurer and I've seen the admin fees waived but you might still have rate changes if the cars differ in spec

I wonder where the cutoff point would be, 60/40? 55/45?

I mean, that would be a simple thing to lay down a guideline on, wouldn't it? Nice and transparent, no need for married couples to worry about can they or cant they use car B for a few minutes more today or whatever?

Rather than some vague opaque case by case decision?

*Hello friendly headset person, I have made a grave error... rather than driving car A 49% of the time I actually drive it 51% of the time.

+My god woman, you have put lives at risk and threatened the very existence of society. We must void your insurance FORTHWITH!

Is there some mad graph of risk where the closer you get to a true 50/50 split the risk/loading disappears to infinity due to the uncertainty of who's driving what in micro time slices?

People might think I'm being a pain in the hole or pedantic.

But seriously, this idea that somebody in a back room somewhere, with a degree in power point rather than anything mathematical or logical IMHO , can issue these fatwas to send us peasants scurrying? And they must never be questioned?
