What's the best option for a ferry: Dublin - Liverpool (return) driving a car.

I see ferrys that take 8 hours! That's an awful long time.

Holyhead by ferry and then drive from Holyhead to Liverpool would be a faster option, the drive is under 2 hours. Ulysses does the journey in 3 hours 15, Jonathan Swift does it in 1 hour 50.

so why are you mentioning Liverpool then when its irrelevant.

I found Liverpool to be a shorter drive to norfolk but now realise it's a very slow boat trip. So I'm going to go: Dublin Port - Hollyhead then 6hr drive to norfolk

Mmmm. You can get a slow cheap day sailing by seatruck or p&o, dublin to liverpool with free meals, for as low as 89 euro.

You can go Stena / Irish Ferries, Dublin to Holyhead for that if you book early and offpeak, or a lot more for prime sailings at peak. Holyhead may be your best bet as the ferry-ferries are only 3 1/2 hours approx. The Irish Ferries fast one, which costs more in about half that.

Liverpool is handy for chilling out and cheap sailings to the north with free meals thrown in. Holyhead is faster, so I think you may be better with holyhead.

Thanks. €240 return is not bad either.
