Advice on accommodation/ in Dubai & Sydney

My brother and I are mid 20s and will be going away to see the world as well as party. We don't care about luxury so basic accommodation is ok.

Not alot of time so we would like to stay at a prime location. My uncle who traveled the world (were staying with him in brisbane after sydney) reccomended a hotel close to Dubai mall. Is he right? What basic enough hotels so you reccomend?

I'm the one planning the trip and the thing I want to do most is visit the Burj Khalifa and possibly some shopping for the month ahead.

We go to Bangkok for a week. We're gonna stay in the khao san road in a hotel called dang dern or something link that as my brother knows a group of lads who stayed there and couldn't reccomend it enough..rooftop pool etc. So I guess that's sorted.

We then head off to Sydney landing at 9am on 12th March. We need a backpacker hostel for 4 days (uncle arrives then to spend paddy's day with us then flying with him to the gold coast).

He reccomended Base Backpackers hostel. Looks lovely and fun. I like the look of a hostel called Wake Up! Which is very close to Base Backpackers. Do you reccomend any of them? Any others I should consider?

We plan to sightsee, doo activities like the aquarium, the bridge, typical tourist stuff by day and party by night. We want to rent bicycles out to travel around the city to places relativitly close by..good idea?

No idea about brisbane yet as we will stay in our uncles in pottsville for a few days then likely venture off to surfers paradise and brisbane city staying in hostels.
