So I have an old silver filling since I was a child and the first weird thing I noticed about it was that it stained my retainer that I wear at night black/ grey colour. I have one other silver filling but it never stained my retainer. Recently the tooth which caused the staining was causing me pain I was already concerned about it I explained the pain and the staining and said I would like it taken out and it refilled with a white filling the dentist said ok. This was about two weeks ago and I have just noticed what I think is a shard or piece of the filling he drilled out embedded in the side of my cheek. I am concerned about the mercury in the filling ? Also the dentist told me afterwards oh there was a hole in the filling I just refilled it rest of the filling looked fine...I was not happy as I had wanted the whole thing replaced with a white filling. Sorry for the rant I am just stressed about how to get this thing out of my cheek and I know I sound crazy but I have read not so good things about mercury leaking out these types of fillings! Does anyone have experience of this type of thing?
