Scrutiny

Why are some things and people subjected to a lot more scrutiny than others?

Think of Man Utd managers like David Moyes v Louis Van Gall v Mourinho

Think of data breaches like the Yahoo breach two years ago only being reported now v Target data breach which resulted in several resignations shortly after

Another example from an Irish perspective is the South East 24/7 Heart Attack care campaign. The "cath lab" costs almost 2million and was subject to reports, media attention, heated debate and controversy despite the obvious life saving benefits.

Yet, converting car parking spaces to a helipad, also costing almost 2million at CUH does not attract half the attention, debate, scrutiny or need for independent reports despite the fact that 3 white lines don't cost 1.8million!

Now this isn't to belittle the need for a hospital helipad, but I use it as yet another example of how certain people and things don't seem to attract half as much scrutiny as others in similar scenarios.

What do you think AH? I'm sure there is a load of other examples.

    Yes here's a good example.

Irish people protesting +++ over the Irish water charges. Cost 1 or 2 hundred e a year.

On the other hand our mortgage rates are significantly higher than the rest of Europe costing the average mortgage holder 3000 e a year. No
    Protest or discussion .

Or the massive hikes in motor insurance perhaps?

    Remember the motor insurance protest....

    http://www.irishtimes.com/news/ireland/irish-news/motor-insurance-monster-rally-attracts-low-numbers-1.2708734

The crowds were due to assemble at 12pm outside the Dáil and proceed from Merrion Square at 2pm. At 1pm just six people were in attendance including Stephanie Hayes (28) whose insurance premium doubled to almost €4,000 last year. Looking at the empty street, she lamented: “No one gets off their arse in this country. That’s why nothing changes.”
Just before 2pm, a couple of Sinn Féin activists arrived with a makeshift stage, speakers and a few protesters with flags. By the time the rally started there was 70 people in attendance.

I wonder if Brad and Angelina's divorce made the headlines in Allepo.

I miss them too. When Ryan air first started, you used to get a huge cookie with your tea or coffee. Now your lucky to buy a sh1t sandwhich.
