Latest update has disabled all my anti-virus and cannot re-enable

So i turned off my computer last night and got prompted to update and I thought "what the hell why not?"

Turned back on today and all of my anti virus is now disabled apart from windows firewall and it wont re-enable. Kapersky seems to think im in safe mode for some reason and every piece of its protection is paused, malware bytes ransomware switches on/off after every second restart. And somehow AVG thinks it was never installed and refuses to work. I dont run AVG and Kaspersky together but had AVG installed before Kaspersky a while ago.

Anyone have any suggestions about how to fix this shambles of an update?

Edit: Running windows 10 btw, not sure what the update is if someone gives me instructions to find out I can let you know

Seems kaspersky wasnt compatible with this garbage anniversary edition, lesson learned

The problem now is that every update brings with it the potential of a new version, with unknown effects. This is the new norm, even if you opt-out of Insider releases. (Feature-)stability is apparently a thing of the past.

Even Win 8, for all its faults, is at least stable. I've had similar experiences to you and I'm thinking about "downgrading" entirely

I already did. Back to 8.1 Pro. There's not much that I miss either, definitely nothing that's a deal-breaker.

The only way to get a feature-stable Windows 10 install is to use the LTSB versions but they're only available to enterprise customers and also require a KMS server. Unworkable for all but large companies.

In essence W10 doesnt update, it re-installs itself then restores your old machine bit by bit. If it doesnt "like" any program for whatever reason it just dumps it and continues.

It also ignores enterprise group policies and updates inside active hours. Some serious MS fanboys are downgrading back to 8 because 10 will ignore a GP and reboot in the middle of a live podcast...

AU dropped my VPN client which could have been a real clusterf'ck if it had happened off site.

Well I rolled back to 8.1 Pro this week and can't say I'm missing anything from 10 if I'm honest. Stick on a decent Start Menu (Start8 in my case) and you get an upgraded 7 but without the instability.

Microsoft just don't want you to be able to set your computer up how you want it yourself. Makes me glad that I mostly use open-source software these days.
