PC Build €500

Hi all, in need of some help. Myself and some others are buying a Pc for a friend for his birthday. We have a budget of around 500 and would love some help. I can try my hand at building it myself but I'm not too sure of the parts.

1. What is your budget? 500

2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? It'll be mainly for the likes of Football Manager and stuff like that, nothing crazy. Internet etc.

3. Do you need a copy of Windows? Yes, not sure if he likes 10, but can see what the budget allows for.

4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? At the moment we will be using an old keyboard,mouse and monitor and looking to upgrade those in the future.

5. Do you need a monitor? No.

5a. If yes, what size do you need. N/A

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? Not sure what resolution is atm, will update later when I find out.

6. Do you need any of these peripherals? Keyboard/Mouse/Wireless Card/Card Reader/Speakers/etc. No, not for the time being.

7. Are you willing to try overclocking? Won't be necessary for what he'll be using it for.

8. How can you pay? Card/Paypal/Bank transfer.

9. When are you purchasing? ASAP

10. If you need help building it, where are you based? Westmeath, should be ok with building it.

For budget builds (under €500) I recommend to get a decent-sized SSD & skip Windows activation.

Don't skimp on the important internals at the start.
In 1-2 months, add another storage HDD if needed and/or buy a Windows license.

I doubt he needs a 460 for Football Manager in fairness, OP can you confirm if he'll be looking for a middling gaming PC or a general use one, that's the difference between mine and Kikis builds. By middling gaming I mean its as powerful as a PS4, if not stronger

i3-6100 + RX 460 should outperform a PS4 (but not a PS4 Pro).

Not too sure if he intends on playing games much more graphically intensive then FM.If he wanted to upgrade in the future he could buy newer/better parts anyway.

I might just go with Kiki's build.

Sorry to hijack, but parents are looking for a new machine and I can salvage the two HDDs from the older machine. Minus the gfx card how would this hold up for general browsing/Netflix etc?

Without a GPU, feel free to downgrade the PSU, e.g. XFX XT400 (400W, 80+Bronze, manufactured by Seasonic).

Then use extra budget on an i5-6400 which should last them a good decade.

Back again,had a slight change.

I now have money to buy a monitor/keyboard/mouse and speakers.

If you guys have any recommendations that would be great.I can afford to spend another 300 euro or so.
