Hey I'm looking for any advise here. Last Saturday morn at 3 am I was at my bfs apartment his mate as staying with the past while anyway a fight broke out between them. One of them was stabbed an nearly killed. I ran from the apartment got help and hid until the gardai got there.

They took me to the station at 4 am an took a lengthy statement off me, bare in mind I had been drinking the night before and admitted to smoking half a joint of weed. I wasn't seen by a doctor and was in a bit of shock as ya can imagine.

The guy was charged with attempted murder and got high court bail. I was the only one who gave a statement I'm the only eye witness.

I went in yester day and asked to retract my statement as I want to move on. I was told they need to talk to the dpp as they may still submit my statement and that the dpp can summons me to give evidence.
Can they ? Was my statement even taking legally ? I'm shaking even thinking of it.

Any advise would be much appreciated
