Hope someone can shed a bit of light on this for me. I was a casual worker receiving jobseekers allowance until May when I left my job to do a course. It is a social welfare course, CompTIA A+ and I made the sacrifice of leaving my 7-10 hour a week job to upskill and do something with my life. I always had an interest in I.T however I never had confidence in doing anything in I.T so I am truly a beginner. I done a PC Maintenance and Repair course earlier this year, just an evening beginners course and I realised I wanted to go further. So I applied for the CompTIA course and the social welfare office in my town had no problem with me doing this and I got accepted and moved to another county.
I was only signed on in my new home two weeks and I got a letter from Seetec-Jobpath informing me I had to go to a meeting. So every week I have been going in doing a jobsearch and I haven't had much pressure due to me doing the course and having exams to do.
My main worry is that I have ZERO experience in I.T and I kept reiterating that fact to my E.A and that I am not stupid and know I won't walk into a job having never worked with computers and he told me sure you could get a job in Dunnes and try get some I.T experience out of work hours.
Anyway, I have been thinking that if I could find a jobbridge internship I would gladly take it. Even with all the negative reviews of the scheme I would be happy to do it just to get the experience. I know experience is key and this would be a way for me to get necessary experience.
So now I am under this Jobpath scheme does that mean that I will not be permitted to apply for a jobbridge internship? I feel like I have totally wasted the last few months trying to upskill and do something with my life. I haven't asked my E.A yet as he said I could focus on the exams and then the real business will start when I finish which is soon and I am worried there is no point in saying it to him.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks.

The only perspective I could offer as a Software Engineer is, do a lot of your own research. Play around with Computers, check out online forums and aim to learn new skills in general. I would suggest dropping by the Tech forums here on boards. Tech Forums
