Men's Trousers for the Non Skinny

I've had a bit of a search on this but looking for an updated answer.

Currently on the hunt for some chinos/trousers for a smart casual look.

I would be a 34L/36L depending on the make and fit but problem is, everything I come across at the moment is skinny/super skinny/spray on skinny which I don't understand how the masses fit in to and I wouldn't get them past my ankles in my supposed size. The rare time I can get a pair on, they would fit on the waist but I would like some circulation below my knees also.

Been to a good few of the high street shops over the last couple of weeks including Topman, H&M, Zara, Burton, R&I to name a few. Closest I got was a slim fit chino in Next but didn't like the one colour option.

I've been in the UK the last few years and found it a bit easier but would appreciate advice on Dublin options now that I'm home and pantsless. Online shopping is obviously still an option but would rather try something on as there is such a variety of fits these days.

That's your problem, any decent suit retailer will have what you need. Debenhams, M&S, Dunnes

Does GAP exist in Ireland yet?

I was in there yesterday and struggled to find anything below 32 waist. Lots of 34 and seen quite a few 36 - definitely a load more than the 30 I was looking for. I think it's just a reflection dietary standards of where I'm currently living :(

I think it's hard to beat Banana Republic for chinos, especially for something that's not beat onto you. I think Arnotts might do them.

Although online is great, the returns policy is good if not the right size.

M&S is the go to back-up alright and have happily spent my money there on shirts and suits in the past.

Was hoping I didn't have to rule everything else out just yet though!

Nice, loads of options there. That's what I was hoping for, a brand/store I knew but hadn't considered. Will check it out.

GAP is an option. Anything American will have more room in the leg usually.

M&S tends to be more the "old man" fit - very baggy and loose fitting. If that's what you want, fine, but they won't look very good if you're under 50.

You could try TK Maxx - I found a pair of white linen Bullock & Jones trousers in there for €30, usually retail around €200. They were good and loose and perfect for the summer.

Not true, they also have lots of tailored fits to suit most tastes.

What you're looking for is a regular fit. I would try one of the independent retailers they normally stock a good range of chinos in the price range €50-70. Brands like Vedoneire and Hattric are usually wide fitting without being baggy.

In jeans I normally go for G-star good fit but difficult to find places that stock a wide range in Ireland.

Got sorted in GAP. Good selection of colours and fits for a reasonable price.
