Virgin Media Contract confirmation Mistake.

    Got a mail from Virgin media saying that in an investigation, Comreg found that 26,046 of virgin customers were not provided confirmation of contract . (I was one of em)
    Virgin Media is obliged by law to provide its customers with a confirmation of their contract on a durable medium.
    * Does this give right to cancel the contract ?
    I was given offer of 50 euro pm and 6 mnths half price. But in the confirmation contrac mail got today it shows Euros 53.50 pm. And the speed only 120mb
    Though i am still on discount offer , not that happy with customer service, and router .

    Did anyone get chance to contact virgin regarding this!!!!

    Got the same email and woud also be interested in canceling my contract if the option was there. Just moving over to the more expensive 6 months now and would love to avoid it if possible!

    That error cost virgin a few bob as well.

    I don't think you could cancel your contract.


    They didn't change anything, just didn't give us a record of it - which I never got before so it doesn't make any difference to me.

    This is not correct - customers should have been told that they had a 14 day cooling off period - so 'affected' customers now have that cooling off period - which includes the right to cancel.

    Hmmmm. Interesting. I'm out of contract in January & out of special pricing in November. I wonder if they'd offer me an extension. I've no need for more than 240MB, already have the max channels (non HD) and don't use the phone (but have it).

    I've no intention of going to anyone else because the broadband is fantastic, & I don't watch TV anyway (kids do).

    When I read an article about this it mentioned something about Virgin must reissue customers the option of the 14 day cooling period which would mean you can cancel.
    I might have read that wrong though.

    Well - surely informing customer about 14 day cooling period just after half year of using service makes lot of sense...

    It's great for the customer as you now have leverage to cancel your contract to and they will offer you up to 9 months of half price just to stop you from cancelling. Last time they gave the price increase I got 9 months half price so will be phoning again shortly and trying the same :)
