Race recap Erie Marathon Sepetember 11, 2016

Pre-race - Me: where is the deg on back check, okay there it is Will,
    calm the nerves mane

Race start - umm why isn't my music coming on, Lord please let the
Erie marathon play list come on...

Mile 1-5 - how am I suppose to run the tangent with all these people
in my way...okay, just wait it out, be patient Will and keep taking
    your GU every 30-minutes.

Miles 6-10: its a bit windy, let me find someone to pace with and
someone to hide behind. Two giggling girlfriends look back at me like
"whose this guy" Me: Look, I'm not tryin to holla just looking to pace
with people mane jeez, you sign up for a race and don't expect anyone
to be near you...oh there goes the water stop, quickly take your GU
and wash it down at the water stop.

Mile 11-15: okay this girl is going my pace, l'll pace with her. Look
at my watch, I'm holding 8:40s steady, just be patient will, it's a
pacing game, we are pacing this mane. Okay, we are looking good and
holding a steady pace and sticking to the nutrition and hydration
plan. Just hold this pace and when you get to mile 22, if feeling
good, can move the pace to 8:35 but no sprinting, just pick ups Will!

Mile 16-20: wow, this girl is doing my pace and she is not all freaked
out like the other two runners were, thank God, If i just stay with
her, I will be fine. Stay focus Will, get comfortable being
    uncomfortable, I got this!

Mile 20: runner, "aye, this is a training run for me so I'm going to
slow down, do you see the shirtless guy over there...he is my coach
and doing our pace, just stay with him and you will be fine". Me:
okay, thank you for pacing and good luck on your race. Holly molly, I
finally found a person to pace with and now back to looking for
someone to pace with, its easier running with someone than solo.

Mile 21-25: Good lawd, my quads are getting tight, maybe I need a GU,
take my last GU. Self talk: look here Will, its a marathon, of Couse
your quads are tight, if it was easy everyone would do it! Just keep
moving mane! We are just doing 5-miles then home stretch!

Mile 26: Mane all the hard work it would hurt more if I ended up
finishing like 4:01 or something like that, don't let all the handwork
and pacing go to waste, stay with it Will, stay with it!

Finish sign: I looked up and saw 3:57 changed to 1:58 and internally
screamed to myself, Oh no, you are not going to go 4 on me, I'm coming
for you sub-4! sprint or attempted to move as fast as i could to the
finish, finished with 3:58:13, Thank YOU JESUS!!!. But kept moving
since the advice I got was to not just stop abruptly but keep moving.
Stretch my hamstrings, quads, and ITB stretches. Changed clothes, took
pictures with fellow runners. Grabbed a beer and kicked it with some
older male runners while talking about the love of the sport of
running, places we've ran, where we are from and what we have planned
for the rest of the year.
