Road- Biking?

    Hey all you good people,

I'm looking to buy my first road bike pretty soon- both to commute in and out of work/ college daily (7.5 km one- way to the one further out), to go to the gym 5 days a week, and also to take the odd cycling trip to scenic areas.

With so many bike shops and varieties available in Dublin, I am truly lost.

What I am looking for is the following:
    • Speed
    • Light weight so climbling hills is easy
    • A durable bike that will last me a number of years
    • And also very importantly, comfort

I'll be buying this with the bike to work scheme so €1000 is the max including helmet, lock, lights, gloves, etc. However, since this is my first road bike and I'm not sure what I'm in for, I'd rather not go all out.

    Suggestions anyone? :)

Why did you feel the need for a second thread about the same thing?

As someone suggested in the other thread you could get a cannondale caad 8 with claris for €700 in cycle superstore, whereas I picked up a very clean second hand cannondale caad 9 with full ultegra groupset and carbon forks, stem, seat post, handlebar, crankset , decent wheels for €780.

I've a brilliant suggestion but I don't like 'second threads because the first one didn't work' threads. So I'm not saying.

OP you'll get better feedback if you post in cycling forum rather than cycling adverse forum; and maybe post at a time other than owl o'clock😀

If you are near 5'10 -6' just buy this

10 yrs old but seems unridden, with 9 speed ultegra, can take mudguards and maybe a rack(not certain though).

For your criteria and budget you will have to compromise somewhere.
