3 summons for road accident????

I was involved in an accident November last year, and I have just received 3 summons in the post and I am very confused and worried about. I'll try and be as clear as possible and as short as possible.

To explain the accident, I was driving along on a rainy day last November, as I approached a staggered crossroads junction I realised there was a car waiting to turn right (no indicators), as I swerved to avoid this car my van went into a skid. (small nissian Kubisar, terrible handling and no abs brakes)
When my van went into a skid I had no control and hit a car waiting to come out onto the main road from the left hand road of crossroads. I ended up with quite a deep cut to my head but thankfully no one else was injured.

I only had the van a couple of weeks and had not insurance disk displayed but van was insured. Ambulance was first on the scene and they were treating my cut. Then the Guards arrived and I mentioned no disk straight away, but the van was insured, they said don't worry they would check this and were very nice.

They said they would ring in a couple of days to talk and took all my contact details. I was then taken in the ambulance to receive stches to my head.

The next day I contacted my insurance to notify them of my accident incase the other party were going to claim as their car was much worse than mine.

I never heard anything from anyone until 3 months later I got a letter from my insurance company to say the other car made a claim and it was settled. I thought it strange no one contacted me but assumed the guard passed on my insurance details.

Today I received 3 summons in the post.

    1. Driving with no insurance. (I was insured and have the letter of settled claim to prove this)
    2. Careless driving (Fair enough, although the weather and car turning left with no indicator did not help. Car I hit actually backed this up.)
    3. Failed to produce insurance disk within 10 days. (The guards on scene made no mention of this and I have never been in an accident before and had no idea this was the procedure.)

I am totally taken aback by the summons and can not believe the guards did not contact me since the accident to let me know about the outstanding issues.

Is this procedure or am I missing something??

You would be best served talking to a solicitor with experience/speciality in road traffic. This could end up very messy, or be extensively sorted out.

its procedure to bring your insurance details etc to a garda station within 10 days.

    I;d be contacting a solicitor

You could try contact the Garda on the summons and tell him you did not recall being asked to produce because you had hit your head and offer to drop down a copy. He'll probably strike the two insurance cases out. You'd still be left with the careless driving charge so you may as well just go to a solicitor and let him deal with it all.

You need a solicitor, I'm afraid there is no escaping that fact. They will guide you.

As already posted by experienced members here you need to see a solicitor about this. Legal advice cannot be given thru this forum.
Have to close this thread. Good luck
