Hi I am trying to fix an msvcr100.dll error which happened since I upgraded to windows 10. I checked my operating system which says 64bit. But when I try to paste the link for fix into the windows folder there is no system 64 folder. However there is a folder called windows.old but in there it says system 32. I'm confused. Does this make sense to anyone? can you advise. Thanks

Even in 64 bit windows, system32 folder is still called system32.

The folder in windows old is irrelevant. Should be in regular windows folder

No there doesn't seem to be even a system32 folder in the windows folder only the old one.

The correct way to fix errors involving MSVCR100 is to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package from here. Downloading it from DLL sites and pasting it into system32 is asking for trouble.

Ok thanks. I followed the link you provided and clicked on MS Visual C++ redistributable package MFC security update but then it gives me 3 options VCredist_86.exe VCredist_ia64.exe, or VCredist_X64.exe I haven't a clue and am getting more confused then ever. Any advice?

    You probably want X64

I tried that and it said the installation worked but when I try and open the file I want it still gives me the error message MSVCR100.dll is missing. Any other suggestions welcome.

Install both the _86 and x64 versions

That seems to have done the trick. Thanks a million for taking the time.
