Unwaxed lemons

I'm having difficulty finding unwaxed lemons to make my preserved lemons with. Is there a way of getting rid of the wax on regular lemons without changing the nature of the peel at all?
If anyone knows where to buy the unwaxed version, anywhere between Galway and Athlone please let me know!
    Thanks

Marks & Spencer might have them, I used to spot them in M&S in Dublin for sure. Or maybe McCambridges in Galway City.

I'd imagine a wash under very hot water would take it off.

I dunk the lemon into a glass of boiling water for about 1 min. Then rub it with kitchen towel. This also helps to get more juice out .

I called in to McCambridges yesterday and they had none. I did pick up lots of other nice things while I was there, silly not to! They do seem to have reduced the range of things they have though, becoming a little bit more mainstream, which is a shame.

So just dunking in hot water removes the wax? I guess in that case, I don't really need the expensive unwaxed ones as the regular ones are usually so much cheaper!
    Thanks for the tip folks.
