    Hi,

I bought a house last year and now I want to build a separate shed to the rear of the house, not entirely sure of the size yet but will be somewhere in the region of 10m x 6m.

I know I'm going to need planning but my question is do I need a certified builder?

I had planned on doing a lot of the work myself and with help of friends but if I need a certified builder will put my anticipated costs away up!!!

No. A domestic shed is exempt from building regulations so a short form of commencement notice with yourself named as owner, designer and builder is sufficient.
