Any tips or suggestions on my ad?

Changes to photos or description to boost viewings this weekend.

Not had much interest so far other than a couple of swap offers that didn't suit.

Not that long up but sold two cars before this and they were sold at this stage.

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/bmw-325ci-se-leather/13380403

I'm going to bump / highlight for the weekend so any advice very welcome.

I'd try for a non-muddly field but other than that the pics are very good

Biggest issue is a 2.5L petrol, with high tax and 13 years old so practically uninsurable these days for those/the demographic (younger male on a budget) who might be interested

Given that, the price seems high as well

I would spend €70 on a PDR for that dent, the car and ad will do better without it. You're aiming at such a small niche but a lovely car.

I had a PDR guy look at it, top guy, well recommended. He said needed replacement boot lid as he couldn't get behind the dent. Will take it to get a second opinion.

Was supposed to sell it in July but couldn't bring myself to go ahead, can't imagine what I'll end up with for equivalent money :o

I don't think it is overpriced. If the condition is excellent.

Price of a car at that age should really reflect the condition, not the actual age. I've seen tons of cars - more and less expensive - and majority of them are pure rubbish, neglected and abused to the limits. Don't let the average price mislead you - most of those ads don't deserve to be called cars.

Secondly, a 318Ci might be for a 20-something on a budget, but as mentioned before, a 325 is much harder to insure and tax. It needs a buyer who knows exactly what he is looking for, with a bit of knowledge and passion, and is not going to be satisfied with a 4-pot BMW. 325 is much more rare and in the when seeling 318 in a sea of 318s you have to differentiate with price. 325 is different on its own - with performance...

This BMW is exactly something I was looking for - and I am 35-year-old MPV-daddy.

Post high resolution pictures somewhere - flicker, google photos etc - and include the links in the ad. I hate DoneDeal for those micro-photos...

    -- edit

It's an auto... Well - that narrows it very down...

I does indeed. I looked at about 8 or 9 320s and 325s both manual and auto. Very hard to find one in good condition. The guy I bought from only had it advertised two days before I bought it, lucky fecker!

It's a pity your car doesn't fall into any easy slot. It's not old enough for classic insurance (that would be me out) and engine too big for most younger buyers, it's high tax - €1,080 - I wouldn't mind that, but it's auto and that would be me out again. And that's before I even ask if it does have the factory sports suspension

Price is a bit high, but I suppose it depends how quickly you need to sell. You're not alone, DoctorStrange. I have about 30 interesting cars saved in DoneDeal and none of them are selling. If it was me, I'd have a very good look at similar prices on DoneDeal, price your car accordingly (cheaper than most others) and then just wait and wait...

I would also take a pic of the engine running and the dash not lighting up like a Christmas tree ;)

€1089 road tax? On top of motor tax? That'd put me off..

I have a pic of both, last pic is engine running.

I thought it would be a good thing to show that all warning lights are working and not disabled / removed?

    Apologies, missed that one!

It sure looks like a very nice car. The one thing is to find out if it has factory sports suspension, it probably does. If you don't know for sure, post the last 7 digits of your VIN here and we'll let you know. It will include all options on your car and it might help your sale.

Not sure if it has sports suspension or not to be honest.
    Has sports seats!

    PL85369

Edit : has HECK drivetrain, anyone know what this means?

"Heck" in German means "rear,". For instance, "heckscheibe," is "rear window." I have no idea how to interpret the word in this context, however. Maybe it's a less severe version of Transmission Hell.

    PL85369

Sports seats, sports steering wheel, but not factory sports suspension...

Another bit of proof that not all coupe E46 are sports suspension contrary to what Wikipedia says (and some people on here and I've seen it stated on BMW forums too)

Auto aircon, factory alarm, el. seats, front armrest, that's about it in options that can make a difference

As for heck: all BMWs are RWD until that 7 seater yoke based on a supersized MINI came out. The one that looks like a Hyundai. Called the 2 series Active Tourer

Lovely car but I think it needs to be under €2k to sell.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 217 ✭✭DoctorStrange

Thanks for all the opinions. I'll spotlight at the weekend, drop the asking and see how things go.

On the plus side, most of the cars I've saved on DD aren't moving either so should be in a good position to negotiate them down :)

You shouldn't be saying that when you're selling :p

But you're spot on, I have dozens of cars saved (all of them reasonable or very good value for money) and nothing is shifting.

Who ever is buying your car will get a very nice car for their money. GLWS!

2200 minus a full tank of petrol

    I would've given you €3000

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 66,438 ✭✭✭✭unkel

Well done! You did well to get 2200. Goes to show though, the E46 can be an enthusiasts car and an enthusiast is usually prepared to pay more than the norm for the right car. I've had 2 E46 coupes myself but they were on the lower end of the price range. I could very well own one again in future, but it will probably be a bigger engined mint condition one. And I will be prepared to pay the extra money for it.
