Carers Allowance and Working

    Hi,

    I'm hoping someone might be able to help. My father has become a full time carer for my mother. He was unemployed. But today he has been offered some part time work. Does anybody here know whether, under the current rules, he is entitled to work part time and still qualify for the carers allowance? Thanks. I've looked through the DSP blurb, and I can't figure it out!

    Yes for not more then 15 hours a week.

    Thanks for your reply. But...I'm wondering if that is the 'old' rule, and has it changed?. When my sister was a carer in 2015, she reduced her full time job hours to part time, and that was fine, but she told me this morning that she thinks the rules have changed, I googled it, but couldn't find any updates. She thinks that you can no longer work part time if you are a carer.

    No that's the current rule it hasn't changed. Citizens advice wouldn't have incorrect information on their website but there's no harm calling to check.
