Opera Browser Rocks

I ditched Chrome Browser for Opera browser over six months ago, and haven't looked back since.

I had nothing but problems with Chrome, with it lagging severely , hogging all the system memory, other random errors, running slowly ....
Chrome was great when I first started using it but it's just seems to have gone downhill over time.

I haven't had a single issue with Opera Browser since I installed it.

It has it's own extensions and it has a plugin where can can actually install Chrome extensions.

I would strongly recommend anyone to ditch Goggle Chrome for Opera browser, especially if one don't have the fastest machine.

    Just a heads-up : )

A different reason to use Opera

    http://www.opera.com/blogs/desktop/2016/09/free-vpn-in-opera-browser-40/
Today, we launch Opera 40 with our new free, unlimited, no-log browser VPN service. With this launch, Opera becomes the first major browser to release a built-in VPN service. When turned on, the browser VPN creates a secure connection to one of Opera’s five server locations around the world. The VPN lets you choose where to appear on the internet, giving you online privacy and security a boost while making content easier to access.

Yes I'm aware of that too. I'm just wondering how it works speed wise in comparison to paid services. I'd use a VPN to use BBC iplayer which would require a fast connection. Guess I'll try it and see : )

I tried it previously but just preferred how Chrome syncs everything when you log in and the extensions (LastPass, UBlock and one or two others)

Might give it another shot though

There is an extension in Opera, that lets you use your Chrome extensions in Opera, as I mentioned earlier.

Yep I installed it again yesterday and it's pretty good - the lack of a dedicated Home button though is a bit silly, and the VPN doesn't seem to have a UK server so no joy with BBC etc. It'd also be nice if they synced extensions when you log in as I use multiple devices/tend to reload fairly frequently

I personally don't like Opera, I use Chrome a lot but I also use a lesser known browser called K-mellon which is super fast.

It virtually has the same interface layout, with all the tabs on top etc, except the settings section that is located on the opposite side. Actually I think the settings settling in Opera is better laid out than chrome.

Giving Opera a week on my Arch Linux box to see how it goes, after reading this thread. So far so good! It's pretty snappy.

I was using Opera for many years, but I ditched it when it changed to a Chrome Lookalike and removed everything I loved about Opera. Using Firefox now.

Same here but I moved to SRWare Iron (Chrome without the spying). Also use other browsers for different things. Opera used to have a good built-in mail client. And did torrents too IIRC.
