    Hey guys,

We are thinking of buying in either kill or naas.

We really love kill, it has a lovely village feel but a few years ago I heard it was actually a bit rough? We are also a bit worried that it might be too remote and naas has a bit more services. We both work in dublin, I know very little about both places and would greatly appreciate advice from people living in both.

We are a couple in our 30"s

Read thread title. Thought you meant live in Naas, or kill people.

Disappointed. Could have been a fun discussion.

    :(

Naas all the way. Much prefer to live in Naas, there's not a whole lot to Kill.

Kill is a lovely spot, 2 good pubs, supermarket, new school is top notch, I would never describe Kill as rough. Decent bus service in the 126 to Dublin. I lived in Kill a few years ago and my brother still lives there now

Kill is not rough at all…quite the opposite! Are you sure there person was talking about Kill?

Kill is lovely if you want a quiet village life but you will pay slightly more to be nearer to Dublin. You will also find yourself going into Naas a lot for shopping and socialising.

Naas is great also, but you will obviously have more traffic to deal with and be slightly further out.

    You're comparing a village and a town

so depending on what you want either could be the answer

If you choose Kill - you will still be visiting/using Naas for services/facilities etc

If commuting to Dublin - Kill would be a winner

lots more pros / cons for both

Kill is definitely not rough anyway, it's nice but there's not much in it. Naas is a great place, hoping to move there myself in the near future.

Thanks for the comments, they both sound like pretty good places and maybe kill is best if working in dublin

hi all. i am in the same position now, looking at a house in kill and a house in monread. really torn. i love the little village feel in kill but monread is a nice area of naas too. i have a 2 year old and another on the way so i really want whats best for them. anyone able to help me out? i know there is a primary in kill but i would need to go to naas for a secondary. is there enough to keep kids busy in kill, is naas too overcrowded?

You won't be stuck for a bus to get your kid into school in Naas come the time. Kill is nice so don't let that be the only thing to sway you.

You will end up doing most of your stuff in Naas though so you'll probably be doing a lot of driving in and out. I live walking distance from the town and it is definitely handy.

Not the worst choice you could be making overall.

They both have plenty going for them but maybe in slightly different ways. Naas is obviously the pick of the two if you want door-step access to more shops/pubs/restaurants/etc.
But Kill is a lovely spot and slightly better value for your buck if you're talking about the outskirts.

Either way be ready for serious traffic in the mornings to Dublin. The M7/N7 and then M50 when you hit it are getting worse by the day. It's something that people dont often think about before buying so I would try your journey to work from Naas at whatever time you will be regularly commuting at and "home" again just as an exercise before buying.
It's doable but a lot of traffic, just try it first and then after that good luck.

Kill is the furthest thing from rough, it's actually frustratingly bourgeois. I grew up in Kill and while I really enjoyed the little village feel, it's worth noting that in recent years we've had a lot of people move in and a lot of housing estates spring up which have kind of ruined that.
I'd recommend Naas to anyone browsing this thread now, but I can't promise it's not just because I don't want Kill getting any more crowded and losing even more of its charm!

    126 goes through Naas aswell

Kill has a great playground and the GAA club is alot nicer and friendlier than Naas. Schools in Naas have huge waiting lists and know parents that couldnt get their first choice. Plus its closer to Dublin. Traffic going through Naas town is a joke.

    How about Johnstown?
