Bad parking forum

I sent PMs to two Mods asking was it ok to post this, but neither replied. So here goes.

I was bored and learning how to setup forums so I did a small single-themed one. The theme is Bad Parking. It is similar to the Obnoxious Parking thread here that was closed several years ago.

People are invited to post images of examples of poor parking and comment.

    The forum is here: http://antisocialparking.freeforums.net

I can't help thinking a facebook page would get more attention, especially if Irish only.

Great until someone posts something with personally identifiable information and you are caught up in litigation. Best of luck OP, I hope you don't cross someone with deep pockets.

There are already a few Irish facebook pages relating to this.

Anyone else miss the obnoxious parking thread? Never did quite understand why that was shut down.

It's the poor enforcement.... until that improves, this will continue...
(And the fact if you take a pic or vid with the plate you risk being sued...crazy country!)

Fully in favour of clamping badly parked cars & fining owners....it's just laziness not to park in a spot correctly....(and some drivers are not fit to drive the cars they are in)

Guy I used to work with intentionally parked between two spaces 'to protect his car' (09 3 series). Came out of work one day to find it deeply scratched all down both sides. 2k to repair. Oh, how I laughed. Obnoxious pr1xk he was.

X2, whatever your opinion on parking, damaging someone's property because of spite or whatever silly reason is pathetic.

    Scummy even.

He must have done something else to you.... Or someone you know.... Or both!

There's more fun ways to deal with pricks like that rather than damaging the car

If it were me, what I tend to do is squeeze the car so tight up against the drivers door out of spite so they have to crawl in through the passenger side. Which is pretty funny to watch :D

There's a few of those pricks around. I used to work near Pembroke Road in D4 and close to the junction of Wellington Road there is a marked rectangle between two entrances with space for two cars but no divider line in the middle. A guy who worked nearby used to come in early every day and he always slapped his Jag bang in the middle of the rectangle so he didn't have to share the space, I often felt like leaving him a calling card as described above but never did.

Nothing wrong with taking 2 spaces provided it's down the back out the way and the place isn't packed.

    I do it!

I wouldn't condone or take any amusement from €2k worth of damage being done to someones car unless they were an absolute grade 1 ****€r but invariably a lot of these guys park up the front and if the place is packed that often wouldn't halt their as$hole thoughtless parking antics...

If your down the back and the place isn't packed why would you need 2 spaces? If someone is going to damage your car they'll just as likely do it if you park like an ass or not.

IIRC, one of the main reasons was some people were advocating identifying owners and wanting to send links to their workplace or the like, while others were advocating causing damage to offenders cars.
It was a fun thread, but some people just kept wanting to overstep the mark.

Surely bans could have been handed out if that was the case, no?

    • Even obscured, its possible to sometimes lift the reg (Bad watermarking, layer or a reflection in the photo)
    • If you had a high res photo and with the right angle, you can lift the disc information.
    • You could determine where the car was parked, and could be outside someone's business or house.
    • EXIF Data indicating the location, going back to the point above.
    • Sign writing on the car for a business or similar.

Snap a photo, share with your friends, but I wouldn't be getting into hosting a site that Joe Soap can post to. Asking for trouble. Remember, they don't necessarily need a strong case, someone with enough cash can just open the legal floodgates on you and you need to respond legally, which costs money. Defamation is another angle you could take. Why do you think a company like Boards.ie doesn't allow this?

Ever parked away in a corner somewhere out the way on your own and come back and there's someone parked longside you?

    Yeah that.

Parking isn't part of the driving test. No point trying to embarrass anyone who doesn't do it correctly for whatever reason it may be, until there's something set for them to be marked against.

There doesn't seem to be any problem with the Dash Cam Thread.
Reg plates are not obscured and sometimes you even see the drivers face. I am sure if there was any legal issues that thread would not exist.
You will get very little personal information from a reg plate or window discs unless you have access to the databases, which very few do.
Most pictures on the old thread were candid, taken from a distance and quite often at most you got was a reg plate.
Why do you think a company like Boards.ie doesn't allow this?
Because some over zealous keyboard warriors had started advocating causing damage to offenders cars or wanting images linked to their workplace.
Take a look at the old threads, no mention of "..thread closed due to plates and window discs being visable"

That's what the reverse around a corner segment is for.

That part seems more so about being critical of observation. You need to pay constant attention to at least three roads when doing it along with wherever pedestrians or anything else may come from.

It's not focused on getting someone into a spot in any particular manner at all.

bigger pr1xks are those who intentionally ding your doors with their sh1tcan cars .
Parking spaces way too tight for modern size cars .
