I used Motorcheck twice in a few days last year, and to be honest I won't use it again.

The info they give you is very little, also there is nothing in relation to the actual mileage, despite the fact that in theory this data is available from the NCT tests.

Regardless of the mileage info, I believe it's not very useful to pay for these checks, they give you a false sense of security when in fact they tell you very little about the car you'd like to buy. Maybe they can help in case the car was stolen or similar, not sure though.

Don't forget the HPI check. Father was looking at a car in Tipperary two years ago, car seemed genuine, spotless, low miles, owners seemed very respectable, well spoken, nice house, lovely gardens.

Motorcheck came back to say the car was still under hire purchase agreement which they had forgotten to mention until challenged about it .. 17k left to pay on it! If you were getting a loan the bank would run the HPI check anyway, but if buying in cash could be a whole can of worms.
