I have a 2004 golf tdi - all the doors open ok but boot wont open either with remote key or button on drivers door. Anyone suggest good resonable priced mechanic in Dublin or Newbridge area who could fix this. Also the air bag light has come on last week for no apparent reason so need this looked at too before NCT - pm me if name of any mechanic. Thanks

The boot is a common problem,
I'd be bringing it to george daltons.
20 mins down the road from newbridge but there'll be no messing around .

The airbag light could be a simple fix, it will need to be scanned first to see where the fault code is originating. If you want me to have a look at that drop me a PM. As for the boot ( and any other work) George and the lads are a good shout.

The boot issue is a very common problem. The water pipe leading to the rear window washer tends to pop off and fry the electronics of the boot release.

The airbag light is another problem, and is generally a fix where a plug underneath the front seats gets chopped out and then the wires soldered together.

If you can get to George Daltons, he should be able to get the airbag light sorted out. For the boot release, I have tried replacing the mechanism on my Mk4 Golf but that never worked so I would also be interested in knowing if there is a DIY fix for this.

Thats interesting about the water pipe to rear wiper as the rear wiper fell off about a month ago. Is it an expensive fix the boot and airbag light problem and does it take long
