Can a player play a fourball match without his partner? How are shots calculated? I assume its calculated with missing partner handicap included as technically he is playing the match?

    Technically yes.

Happened in athlone a few years ago. A 1handicapper took on 2 lads playing off 18 by himself and he hockeyed them. There was a rule made afterwards in our club that both players HAD to be able to play

Did this not happen last month in the Ladies International Crown where I think Charley Hull had a bad asthma episode and Reid played (rather well but lost) without her
