Would platform 7 serve better as a terminal platform. Using this for Wexford , rush hour Sligo or maynooth terminating services give more freedom to connellys through platforms 5 and 6 as currently using 6 and 7 conflict with the loop line towards Tara st by having to crossover.

Can Newcome JCT be used for passager services and terminate in P7 giving a free movement and not restricting or conflicting with other services when entering from current Drumcondra route. I know this bypasses Drumcondra and the resignalling project creates new movements but there is no harm in having extra paths available.

Wexford services can block accesses to P5 for long periods of time while waiting for departure and will only cause 4 or 5 movements a day that crossover lines on the loop line. Is there benefits to be had here.

They did when they were loco-hauled but that's not really the case any more, they pull in, load up and then depart.

Worded slightly wrong. I mean throughout the day when adding up each arriving and departing Wexford service stationed there even if only for short period of time each train. Other services can been seen parked there as well at times for a few mins causing conflicts of trains crossing over to use 6 and 7.

Would it not be easier to dedicate 5 and 6 to dart it will also help with some of the congestion on the island platform as well during busy periods.

Yeah, it would be great, make inter-city passengers have to drag their luggage even further and fight their way through the crowds on the island platform. And, just to be pedantic - it's Connolly not Connelly!

Well crowds will be halved on the island as P5 will be in use for dart instead. Luggage, well if your to strain yourself up to P5 as is a few extra meters wouldn't do much more harm. There is on the other hand things called luggage trolleys or better still cases with wheels. On the other hand Wexford passengers might get more seating as people heading to bray will be more inclined to stay on P5 than crossing over.

On a plus side I'm glad I came across something you agree IE do right. Cheers for the correction, auto spell.

There is no conflict in using 6 and 7 for loop line movements. 5+6, 6+7 or 5+7 can be used without conflict as is clearly shown on google earth.

The Newcomen curve can only be accessed from P7, although this can be done without conflicting anything else.

It could be used to run a Maynooth line services to/from Connolly only without any conflict of Dart/Northern line but with the sacrifice of the Drumcondra stop.

There is no benefit to be had of using 7 instead of 5 for departing Wexford services, in fact switching to 5+6 from 6+7 would be slightly worse because 5 can not be accessed from the suburban lines, only 6+7 can.

In auld Gods time some Belfast and Sligo bound trains often departed from 7. Some Maynooth trains depart from 7, notably the 18:10 which sees an 18:10 and southbound DART serve Connolly at the same time.

I've been on a Newcomen -> P7 passenger manoeuvre relatively recently.

Caused by a reversing Docklands train due to a downed tree over the line after Newcomen but before Glasnevin, rather than scheduled though.
