Myself and 3 other lads are looking to get away from Friday to Sunday in October and get at least 1 round in over the weekend.
Coming from Dublin so preferably nowhere near by. Just wondering if anyone can recommend anywhere? Do people normally book together as a package or pick a place to stay and book a round near by seperate? Thanks

They do good offers for Killarney Golf club for GUI card holders and plenty of hotels to pick from

All decent spots. In order of preference (course quality) I'd go Woodenbridge, Druids Glen (not Heath), Mount Juliet, Slieve Russell, Mount Wolseley, Heritage, Knightsbrook, Seafield. You could add New Forrest and (my favourite) Bunclody.

Maybe Druids Glen ahead of Woodenbridge but both well worth it.

I organise these twice a year and the best trips we've had were in Rosapenna and Sligo (though the yeats hotel in Sligo wasn't great). Downings is only a small village but is booming on a Saturday night and has two fine courses. Sligo good choice of nightlife and outstanding golf.

Tulfarris and Moyvalley were long taxi rides from anywhere. Druids Glen even further again. Woodenbridge has a lively hotel but is truly the back of beyond.

I'm guessing if you're going for a long weekend and might only play golf once then it's the drinking you're after. If that's the case have a look at Carton House (5 mins from Maynooth), and the Hodson in Athlonr (backs onto Athlone GC). Or just go to Kilkenny and slip into Gowran Park on the way back.

Play Hudson Bay or Glasson but stay in Athlone. Both great courses.

Tullamore GC, Esker Hills or Castle Barna and stay in Tullamore.
