Marital breakdown after two years

A friends wife walked out on him after just two years of marriage.

Would the law factor in the shortness of marriage when deciding on maintenance / division of assets in the case of separation, eventual divorce?

I recall three years as being something of a watershed mark for such matters but can't see anything on line relating to duration of marriage having an influence.

Convey our sympathies to your friend. Tell him to consult a solicitor as this forum is not for legal advice
