A message came up on the LCD display saying "Engine System Fault" and there was loss of acceleration. The engine was still on but no acceleration at all. Happened twice with in an hours time.

Also, the remote locking stopped working.

Has anyone had this problem before or know what could cause it?

I'm certainly no expert but that's happened me twice in the past. Both due to dirty diesel clogging up the pump. Engine not getting enough juice and throwing that issue up. However, loss of acceleration like that could be loads of issues.....mine was just bad diesel.

There is a known fault with the focus gives that message and it's usually a fault with the instrument cluster. A new one is about €400, but there are places that can repair them, but turn around time is a few days not ideal if car is in regular use.
You can get a scan done but if no codes are found it might be a faulty cluster.
