Is there a way to inform revenue I've changed job so I'm not going to be hit with emergency tax? My Dad is convinced but doesn't know exactly what.

Ring them with your new employers tax number. They will transfer your credits. No emergency tax. Simple process

Ring your local Tax office and tell them you've switched jobs and ask to have all your credits attached to your new employment.

You'll need your PPS number and your new employers tax registration number.

    Do I need my P45?

Ideally yes, if you don't have it they can put you on week one basis so you won't be emergency taxed but you will need to give your new company the p45 at some stage.

The first 4 weeks in same as been taxed as single person so this gives you time to sort it out.

Ring tax office with estimate of your earnings so far this year and have your new employers registered number as stated above

You can actually do it online now! I was advised when I rang them advising of my new Employers Registration Number.

At the very least ensure your Employer has your PPS number
