Hi guys recently my partner got fired two months ago and I got hired! So I have been working the last month , great place btw but anyways only minimum wage so applied for family income support . Sent all the forms off the minute I received my first payslip , hadn't heard anything since so I was off work Wednesday and decided to call them ...... The application is going fine they received everything but I need my boyfriends permission and signature to apply for the family income support so a letter needs to be sent as I am only seen as an independent adult in their eyes wtf....

Hi celligraphy. The Ladies Lounge isn't the relative forum for your question so I have moved your thread to the State Benefits forum. You're more likely to find an answer there.

The State Benefits charter is now in effect and you should make sure to read it.

    Signing of the Declaration

When FIS applications are received, they are checked to see whether the forms have been signed.

When a family comprises of a person and his or her spouse, civil partner or cohabitant, both join in any claim for FIS in respect of that family.

Therefore they both must sign the declaration on the forms and both must declare all their income sources.

The first page of the application has spaces for signatures of applicant and for that of spouse/civil partner/cohabitant - irrespective of the gender of each.

Yes as you're applying for "family" income supplement they need proof that the other adult in that family is aware of the application in their name.

On the form there is a place for him to sign and on the checklist at the back it reminds you so that's why it's delayed.

It's important to read forms and fill them in properly.

We have already signed the forms with both our signatures but they have requested again a letter from my boyfriend for his permission for me to apply for it
