How are people going about insuring their '5 seat commercial' 4x4s? These are effectively the same as passenger variants in every way. Are you relying on standard car policies or going for commercial policies?

    Thanks

Not sure but in the event of a claim the insurer might go by the tax disc as to whether you should have non employed staff in the vehicle or not.

I wouldn't have thought the motor tax status would have a bearing on the legal classification and insurance consequences?

If you tell the insurance companies that your using jeep/4x4 for 'private use only', as you know the real use would probably be a NO NO,

You have claim and you have commercially taxed same vehicle it proves porky been told somewhere .... could result in turn down of claim or worse still Cancellation of policy

Take the following fact pattern: have 5 seat commercial, taxed as a commercial, only used for private use. I tell insurer is only used for private use. How/why would they invalidate the policy?

To tax commercially you give co.co a commercial reason that might be misrepresenting a fact, to insurer it should b same use
